Mera Peak located in the Sagarmatha National Park region, is a challenging peak to climb. At an elevation of 6,476 m, the peak is the strenuous difficulty level to conquer. Crossing the Zatrwa La Pass at 5,555 meters, encountering Sherpa culture, and learning mountaineering skills to summit Mera Peak, the experience is beyond explanation. 

Technical climbing or Mera Peak required adjustments to cold weather conditions, long exhausting days of steep climbing, and the use of fixed ropes, crampons, and ice axes. Trip Itinerary

Day 01

Pure Adventure Nepal team will meet and greet you on your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. Soon you will be transferred to a 3-star hotel in Thamel. After check-in, you can enjoy your day, with refreshments, accompanied by a welcome dinner. At the same time, we will brief you about the upcoming Mera Peak Climbing.

Day 02

On the second day in Kathmandu, you will explore different historic sites listed by UNESCO, temples, and palaces. In the morning, you will have a walk around Kathmandu Durbar Square., In the afternoon, you will visit the most-celebrated Hindu temple of Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath in Kathmandu. By the evening you will enjoy the sunset from the largest stupa in Nepal, Boudhanath.

Day 03

Early morning you will have breakfast and board a domestic flight to Lukla(2,860 meters), before reaching Everest region. After landing on the scenic drive for about 30 to 45 min, you will reach your destination. Sightsee the tranquil location, mountains, villages, and valleys, and rest your day savoring Nepali cuisines in the getaway to the Himalayas.

Day 04

After having breakfast in the Lukla region. Now you will pack your gear and motivate yourself to begin trekking in the terrain that leads to your destination of the day. It is none other than Chutanga, a small Sherpa village at an elevation of 3430 m, with yak pastures, and rich hospitality. The journey is gradual to ascend for about 4 to 5 hours, which you take enjoying the surrounding air and lifestyle.

Day 05

Start your day with breakfast in the teahouses of Chutanga. Then prepare straight to reach Danda, in the afternoon, by resting, and trekking for 5 to 6 hours, by significantly gaining altitude, and witnessing views of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse, which is worth captivating.

Day 06

As soon as you wake up to a beautiful sunrise, you take your breakfast and prepare for a descent through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests. Acclimatize as you lose elevation and appreciate the magnificent vistas of gigantic peaks, interacting with your guide and Sherpas met on the way.

It is a journey of around 3 to 4 hours, before reaching Mausam Kharka, your destination of the day. Enjoy it to the fullest, as you share a bitter-sweet time with your group. Late in the evening, you can visit the local monastery, check into teahouses, and learn about the Buddhist culture of the Sherpas in the Himalayas.

Day 07

The time has come when you gain some more elevation and take a challenging climb through forests, and alpine meadows. But the adventure is beautiful as the scenery gets more vibrant and appealing as you reach closer to your destination Thagnag, at 4360 m above sea level. Enduring walk of 5 to 6 hours, leads you to dramatic landscapes, makes you push your limitations, and witness a change in vegetation, ascending to the alpine zone.

Day 08

You will acclimatize and rest at Thagnang, enjoying the sense of accomplishment, and gaining insight into what life looks like in the Himalayas., Enjoy local flavors and let the warrior within unveil, and be aware of any sort of issues in adjusting to high altitude. Carefully analyze the weather, and practice prevention for signs of altitude sickness, as this shall get challenging from the next day onward.

Day 09

Today's trek to Khare takes you about 4 to 5 hours of steep climbing, through the Hinku valley, to reach an elevation of 5000 m above sea level. Following the east bank of the Hinku river, you will pass through yak pastures, rocky steep, and ascend witnessing magnificent views of the peaks.

Day 10

Today is the day when you rest, tour around, and acclimatize in Khare. After adjusting to the surrounding temperature and altitude, and participating in ice-climbing training, you can safely ascend on the glacial slopes of Mera Peak.

Day 11

Early morning after breakfast, you will trek to Mera High Camp at 5800m above sea level. Before attempting Mera Peal climbing, the final camp is Mera High Camp. The challenging trek requires reasonable fitness and basic mountaineering skills.

Day 12

The day has come when you will finally summit Mera Peak, for what you have been training for long. It can be physically and mentally demanding but with the use of summit push like fixed ropes, ice axes, and technical climbing, one can reach Mera Peak summit. After that enjoying incredible views from the Mera peak, you can gradually descend to Khare (5,025m).

Day 13

You can have an extra day in Khare, relax and recover, by resting, catching up on satisfying meals, and sleeping in local teahouses. Take short hikes, recover, and share laughter and peacefulness in the Himalayan high-altitude meadows.

Day 14

Starting from Khare, you will lose an elevation of approximately 1,425m, by covering a distance of 4 to 5 hours. At the initial half of the journey, the vegetation becomes diverse, yak pastures, and descends steeply in Gothey at 3,600m.

Day 15

Take a scenic route through Hinku valley, you can head towards the charming village of Tuli Kharka. Crossing rugged landscapes, rocky paths, and occasional waterfalls, you can climb your final journey to Tuli Kharka, with an elevation gain of 650 m.

Day 16

The final day of your trekking to Lukla will take you through the rolling hills and give you a glimpse of the snow-capped gigantic Himalayas. You will arrive at Lukla, enjoying the final descent, and mark your accomplishment with memories of shared laughter and struggle.

Day 17

After having the final breakfast in Lukla you fly back to Kathmandu, with rich memories from the Everest short hike and heli tour. It’s time to relax and freshen up in Kathmandu, after an exhausting tour in the Himalayas, that felt like magic.

Day 18

After gathering thousands of memories from this trek, you will say your final goodbye to Nepal today. With an early morning breakfast, you will be dropped off at Tribhuwan International Airport by the team members. To avoid any last-minute rush, you can pack your stuff on the previous day. Pure Adventure team welcomes you with a further visit to Nepal with open arms.

Based on average cost, the Mera peak climbing cost ranges from USD 2,500 to USD 3,000. Even, you can opt for luxury and deluxe packages, among which, the climbing permit varies on a seasonal basis, i.e. USD 250 (spring), USD 125 (autumn), and USD 70 (winter and summer).

Mera Peak climbing includes alpine grade, glacier crossing, and technical difficulty demanding a certain level of mountaineering skills. Expect to walk 5 to 6 hours each day, acclimatize to high altitudes, and tackle with good endurance and physical fitness.

In comparison to Island Peak, Mera Peak has more risk of altitude sickness, because of its higher elevation of 6476 m, greater than 6,186 m. Even, technical difficulty is greater in the case of Mera peak climbing.
