Trip Overview

Mardi Himal is 5,587 meters high and located about 25 kilometers north of Pokhara. It resides in the Annapurna Conservation Area of Nepal and offers some of the most stunning views of mountains, including the Annapurna Range, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, and Annapurna I.

Encircled by the gigantic Annapurna massifs, Mardi Himal is popularly recognized as Mt. Fishtail. This Mardi Himal Trek starts in the village of Dhampus. From Pritam Deurali, the trail reaches the tower of Mardi Himal Base. Filled with natural enrichment, the mountain is one of the stunning landscapes that awe-struck its seekers.

Nestled in the wilderness, with rivers, lush green forests, towering peaks, and thousands of natural peaks, Mardi Himal Trek offers everything for adventure seekers. The trail is followed by a series of rhododendron forests along with the subtropical forests including bamboo, oak, and fir.

The early sunrise view from Mardi Himal Base Camp is what people die for. You can alternatively trek to the Upper Viewpoint of Mardi Himal, which is popular for its picturesque view of the western face. From the bustling city of Pokhara, your trek stretches from Kande and moves towards Deurali.

The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the short-duration treks that will present you with various mesmerizing views. This trek offers a harmonious blend of stunning landscapes and the diverse beauty of Nepal.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01

Your adventure begins on this day. You will take a public vehicle or private jeep to Pokhara. Pokhara is 205 km west of Kathmandu and is popularly known as the city of lakes. 

Once you reach Pokhara, you will be heading toward Phedi, which is a small village located in the Annapurna range. After you embark on a gentle trek through the green forest, you will move towards Pothana. Pathana is a small Gurung settlement that is surrounded by mountains with some stunning views. You will spend your night at Pothana.

Day 02

Pathana to Pitam Deurali is a wonderful hike in the sandalwood forest. You will have a slow and gentle climb up. This is the official start of the Mardi Himal Trek. after you catch glimpses of the majestic Annapurna range. 

You will reach the Forest Camp, and then you will see the trail leading down to Sidding, Lwang, and Modi Valley. You will see various signposts in between the trails.

Day 03

After you gather yourself from Forest Camp in the early morning, you will head towards Low Camp. As the trek continues through the enchanting forests, the trail gains elevation. Along the way, you will encounter several waterfalls and observe various flora and fauna. 

After trekking for hours, you will arrive at Low Camp, where you will see forests and other panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. You can settle into your accommodations and sleep there for the night.

Day 04

On the following day, you will have a fulfilling breakfast and head towards the high camp. The trek from here is a bit challenging. 

The trail has rugged terrain and steep ascents. With the small breaks and necessary acclimatization, you will reach the High camp. This site is perched on a ridge overlooking the Mardi Himal Base Camp.

Day 05

As you collect yourself from the high camp, you will be heading towards your destination. The destination is Mardi Himal, which is considered the most exciting and highlighted spot. The trek today will be comparatively challenging. 

After you reach the Mardi Himal Base Camp, you will have a panorama of the majestic Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Hiunchuli. You will retrace your way back to High Camp after spending some time there.

Day 06

On this day, you will have an early morning walk towards the Low Camp from the High Camp. The trail is covered with lush green forest and oak trees. After trekking for 5 to 6 hours, you will start to see the low camp. As you arrive at Low Camp in the evening, you can enjoy your lunch and settle in to rest.

Day 07

After a final goodbye to the Low Camp, you will be heading to Sidding. The trail descends through the forest and will present you with some of the fascinating glimpses of the mountains that surround it. 

You will arrive at Siding, which is a spellbinding small village, and have your lunch there. And finally, you will drive back to Pokhara.
